A good arena is built from the ground up, and the ground underneath decides everything. How fast it drains after rain, how evenly the footing rides, and how long the base lasts all come down to grading and compaction. Dirt Wurx SD builds arena bases and preps arena sites for properties across San Diego County horse country.
The most common arena failure we see is water standing on the surface days after a storm, and it is almost always a grading problem. An arena needs a subgrade that sheds water, a compacted base built in lifts, and a finished grade with enough crown or slope so rain leaves instead of soaking the footing. We clear the site, strip the topsoil, shape the subgrade, and build the base the right way so the arena you ride in year five rides like the arena you rode in week one.
Our arena and equestrian site work covers the whole property, not just the arena:
We start with a site visit to look at the lay of the land, where water comes from, where it should go, and how the arena fits the natural contours of the property. Then we shape the subgrade, import and compact the base material in lifts, and tie the whole site together with drainage that protects your investment. We work regularly in Blossom Valley, Lakeside, Ramona, and the other horse communities around San Diego County. Licensed and insured in California, license #967559.
